Although this was not the official watch of NASA astronauts, many astronauts wore it privately when they went into orbit, and there are many documented photographs of it.

The one I’m presenting to you was manufactured in October 1982 and is a rarer version because it has a round bezel, much more common models have an octagonal bezel. This watch had an original rubber strap that was breaking into small pieces because the rubber had rotted over the years, so I put this one on and it fits perfectly. By turning the bezel you select the function you want and that’s why the watch is called Rotocall, a fantastic innovation by Seiko engineers to incorporate a rotating bezel into an LCD watch. In 2025, Seiko released a reissue of this classic.

It’s a real treat to have this piece of Seiko history on your wrist, whether it’s original or reissued. If I were to ask myself, I’d go for the vintage version…
